İstanbul Kültür Sanat Vakfı’nın (İKSV) düzenlediği 3. İstanbul Tasarım Bienali, dünyanın farklı yerlerinden, binlerce yıllık tasarım anlayışını barındıran eserleri ayağımıza getiriyor. ‘Biz İnsan mıyız? Türümüzün Tasarımı: 2 Saniye, 2 gün, 2 Yıl, 200.000 Yıl’ başlıklı bienal, insanın 200 bin yıl boyunca tasarımla kurduğu ilişkiyi, arkeolojiden teknolojiye, tıptan mimarlığa kadar birçok farklı alanda inceliyor. 20 Kasım’a kadar beş ayrı mekânda ziyaret edebileceğiniz Tasarım Bienali, Hürriyet’e kapılarını açtı. Bienali, küratörleri, dünyanın önde gelen mimarlık tarihçilerinden Beatriz Colomina ve Mark Wigley’le birlikte gezdik.

İstanbul Tasarım Bienali“Lyon’da yapılacak tek güzel şey yemek yemektir” demiş 19’uncu yüzyılın ünlü romancısı Stendhal. 200 yıl sonra bugün de Fransa’nın üçüncü büyük şehrinde yemek her şeyin önünde. Ülkenin en ünlü şefi Paul Bocuse, en ünlü geleneksel restoranları (bouchons) burada. St. Marcellin peynirinin, kandan yapılmış sosisin en lezizi... Alpler’in yanı başındaki bu lezzet cenneti aynı zamanda Rönesans mimarisi, Roma kalıntıları, geniş sanat mekânları, yetenekli tasarımcılarıyla bir cazibe merkezi.

The French got possibly the worst news since June 18, 1815 from a Turkish minister and, ironically, on the anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo and, even more tragically, at a British venue! French efforts to shape European politics have failed throughout history, the Minister for the EU, Egemen Bağış, told an audience of dignitaries at the British Embassy in Ankara, while looking a senior French diplomat in the eye (hurriyet.com.tr, June 19, 2009). Nor will they succeed today. Mr. Bağış went on to remind the French of their great misfortunes.

ISTANBUL - Emre Dörter stayed on in Italy to get some real-life experience in photography after completing his master’s degree at the Accademia Italia before returning home. He says over time he has developed an affinity to shoot still-life pictures, as he does now. ’For everything, there has to be a separate preparation, structure, equipment, eye and approach. To find opportunities to work in different styles is very attractive, in spite of it being stressful for a careful professional,’ he says.
ISTANBUL - Twenty local and international artists, brought together by Filipino curator and artist Rowena Martinez Ulayan, are showing their work at Beylerbeyi Palace on Istanbul’s Asian shoreline. Hailing from Cuba, Mauritius, Russia, South Africa and the United States, as well as Turkey, all the artists brought together by Ulayan have made Istanbul their home. The exhibition, ’Creative Euphoria,’ is on view until June 4
