Akaretler No: 35’te kapılarını açan Vision Art Platform’un ilk fiziki sergisi ‘No Room For A Door/ Kapıya Yer Yok’, mekânın amacına uygun olarak ‘kapı’ metaforunu ele alıyor.

For the first 1,277 days that I lived in Turkey, I lived on the second floor of the same building in which my in-laws lived four floors above. Generally, this was more problematic for everyone else than us. Well-meaning sympathizers would offer their condolences. But in fact, those first three and a half years were quite good. It was just our apartment we couldn’t tolerate.
FETHİYE - Inside an unattractive building is kept one of the nicest places you may see in Fethiye. The Cultural Center may be aptly called as a ’creative beehive’ and offers classes where local residents are creating a whole range of arts and crafts of which this coastal town should be proud
LOS ANGELES - Animated film 'Coraline' is wildly imaginative, distinctly detailed and painstakingly rendered. It has its silly moments, such as the performance of an elaborate rodent circus, and blessedly, the three-dimensional effects are only reach-out-and-grab-you gimmicky a few times
ISTANBUL - A crowd of mostly Americans, and four Canadians, one Finnish, one Japanese and one Turk gather in Istanbul's largest Irish Pub to watch the biggest event of the American sports calendar: the Super Bowl XLII. As the NFL Championship game ends in a dramatic finish for the Pittsburgh Steelers, denying crowd favorite the Arizona Cardinals a surprising win, some hail the game as the 'Best Super Bowl ever.'
ISTANBUL - The first Dutch envoy, Cornelius Haga, reached Istanbul in 1612 to negotiate the terms of trade, fiscal and legal provisions between Holland and the Ottoman Empire. The Palais de Hollande is a charming example of the elegant buildings designed in Istanbul’s Pera by foreign architects.
ISATNBUL - Most of the young women in varoş start working at an early age. While their income is vital for the livelihood of the family, they are subjected to strict rules in their daily lives. Some are not allowed to even wear makeup. But for some work also proves to be a door to a freer world.
About 9:30 p.m. in the evening. With one eye, I was trying to follow a sitcom on TV, while with the other reading an excellent "State and the Kurds" book by Professor Metin Heper of the Bilkent University Ğ a book which has been waiting on my "must read" list since early summer. My wife, Aydan, was talking on the phone with my daughter, while at the same time cooking our evening must, Turkish coffee...
Following a sudden drop in his blood sugar levels, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday was checked into Ankara's Guven Hospital by his aides and security detail. Though the Prime Minister's condition turned out not to be terribly serious, details which have emerged in the aftermath of the incident point to a number of weaknesses in the protective order surrounding Prime Minister in his capacity as a leader of the country.
Britain's asylum system is under heavy criticism again following the suicide of a Kurdish Turk who was being held in custody for months with no bail. Ramazan Camlica, 19, took his own life after being refused bail three times. Camlica was found hanging in his cell at Campsfield House in Oxfordshire, early on Monday. Apparently the detainee had been at the centre so long, approximately 5 - 7 months, that he was awarded his own room, which gave him opportunity to hang himself from the hinge of the door. this period of detention is not usual said Kurdish community leaders living in the UK as only those facing imminent deportation are supposed to be detained.
