Mr Camlica, paid £12,000 to escape Turkey last year, but within hours of arriving in the UK was in custody. Some say that he was running from his military service as a Kurdish man from Gaziantep an eastern-Anatolian city of Turkey, that he was suffering from depression from an uncertain future, a long-term health problem and the death of his mother.
The scandal unfolded as Camlica's family weren't informed by officials that he had taken his own life, but by a reporter living in Turkey who was requested by a British newspaper to research the boy's background.
This raises worrying questions over the present state of Britain's detention centers for asylum seekers and the way that they are treated.
The Home Office would not release confirmation of his death or identity, yesterday, but his friends said that he used two belts to hang himself. Camlica gave no hint that he was going to kill himself as he stayed up late in Sunday night chatting with friends.
He is the fifth asylum seeker in the past 12 months to have taken his life while in detention.
