The United Nations General Assembly, representing 191 countries, have confirmed that former Turkish finance minister Kemal Dervis will head up the UN Development Program (UNDP). The 56-year-old former World Bank official was nominated for the position after being credited with steering Turkey through its worse economic crisis in 2001.
Yesterday the United Nations (UN) announced the appointment of the Republican People's (CHP) Party's Istanbul MP Kemal Dervis to the head of the UN's Development Program (UNDP). Dervis' appointment will be officialized by the authorization of the UN's board.
