The Turkish Health Ministry announced this week that Turkey loses 100 thousand people annually to illnesses related to cigarette smoking. Authorities from the ministry noted yesterday that while in the US over the last 20 years there has been a 30% drop in smoking, Turkey has shown a 80% increase in the same time period.
A controversy over the road construction at Gallipoli caused a crisis in the Australian government last week with opposition leaders calling for a halt to the building of the new road after bones were found, saying that Australia's Prime Minister John Howard was disrespecting the fallen.
