Adı Nejla Güvenç olsa da herkes onu Nej diye tanıyor. İsminin kısa versiyonu olan bu kelime Fransızca da ‘kar’, İsveççe’de ‘hayır’ anlamına geliyor. Kar gibi aydınlık ve olumsuzluklara hayır diyen bir marka yaratmak istediği için bu ismi seçti. 2002’den bu yana bir yandan Nej’i var ediyor diğer yandan da Hugo Boss, Zara, Pierre Cardin, Gap ve Nike için tasarım yapıyor. Bu yıl ‘Türkiye Kadın Girişimciler’ yarışmasında 5 bin 600 aday arasında ‘Gelecek Vaat eden Kadın Girişimci’ dalında ikinci oldu

Vogue dergisinin yayınlandığı ülkelerde düzenlenen “Fashion’s Night Out” etkinliğinin geçtiğimiz akşamki durağı İstanbul’du. “Modanın en büyük alışveriş partisi” sloganıyla gerçekleşen etkinlik kapsamında, Nişantaşı, Bağdat Caddesi ve İstinye Park’ta 1000’e yakın mağaza kapılarını gece yarısına kadar açık tuttu. What’s being undertaken by the government is nothing less than trying to silence whatever opposition might be left in the country and consolidate absolute rule of the absolute leader, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Deluding the Americans about the anti-Americanism
Soner Çağaptay is a senior fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. He is also a prolific author, whose commentaries about Turkey appear quite frequently in prestigious newspapers and magazines. When you read them, you can’t help but sense what appears to be his strong political orientation against the Justice and Development Party, or AKP, which has governed Turkey since 2002. The takeaway message, it seems, is that the AKP is perilously Islamist and is taking the country away from its secular principles. The second message is that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his authoritarian "single party" regime is the best thing that ever happened to the Turks.
Proud Turkey warmly embraces football heroes on their return home
The Turkish national team arrived home Thursday to a warm welcome from supporters after finishing in the top four in the Euro 2008 championship co-hosted by Switzerland and Austria. A convoy of supporters followed the bus carrying the team as it made its way to Istanbul’s Taksim Square where it was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd. A celebratory concert and fireworks show was held in the square in the team’s honor. Turkey won many fans at Euro 2008 and showed they can become a major force in world soccer thanks to their determination, skill and grace. (UPDATED)
Babacan rejects "secular education" line in EU report as "unnecessary"
Chief Negotiator for Turkey in the EU talks, Ali Babacan, has reportedly rejected as "unnecessary" a line referring to secular education in Turkey which was to be included a report to the EU on the "Education and Culture" section of the ongoing accession talks.
