ALANYA - The Taurus Mountains are home to the oldest Turkish lifestyle. Yürüks have never given up their nomadic culture and have carried it through the centuries. Today, however, the Yürük lifestyle is eroding away and appears destined to die, only to remain in books and museums.
ISTANBUL - Squatters have invaded a Byzantine palace in Istanbul's Sarayburnu district while drug addicts and homeless people have commandeered the rest of the grounds. Time has been hard on the 1,200-year-old Bukaleon Palace and a big part of it is now considered a slum area.

The exhibition will include 19th century photos from artists such as Jean Laurent and Abdullah Biraderler

ISTANBUL - The Grand Mabeyn within the Yıldız Palace complex has been undergoing careful renovations for 20 years and the restoration is finally complete. All that remains to be done is assembling the furniture and interior decor within the old building, which used to host heads of state during the latter years of the Ottoman Empire
At times of economic crisis, it is of course difficult to think strategically. Governments need to produce fast solutions, companies seek ways to quickly pare costs. ISTANBUL - In Istanbul an ecclesiastical ceremony will take place Sunday at the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in Fener and the president of the World Council of Curches Cardinal Walter Casper will attend. The Pope was present at the ceremony that took place in November 2006.
