Locals, officials at odds over bird deaths at lake
ISTANBUL - Polemic erupts between a local environmental agency and the Forestry Directorate after the agency claims training exercises by fire fighting planes resulted in the deaths of thousands of birds near Lake Bafa. The directorate denies such exercises were carried out at all while the agency says it was local villagers that informed it in the first place

ANTALYA - The mating season of the caretta carettas, an endangered species of sea turtle, came early this year. Köyceğiz County’s Çandır Village is near Lake Alagöl, one of the caretta caretta mating grounds, just at the opposite shore of Dalyan Canal. It was reported that the caretta carettas will lay eggs 15 days earlier this year.
Sea turtles in safe hands after adoption campaign
ADANA - Thousands of sea turtles will feel the help of their 'families,' who they will never meet, through the efforts of the World Wildlife Fund and the Ministry of Forestry. Volunteers can participate to the project and adopt an endangered sea turtle by donating just YTL 10.
