Bodrum - At the annual Christmas cocktail party for the foreign community in Bodrum, the mayor wished all his fellow citizens well for the season and the new year, and spoke about how fortunate the town was to have an international mixture of nationalities, culture, language and life experience with Bodrum’s new settlers.

It was the usual scene for a ceremonial day in Bodrum: Formalities were first observed at the Atatürk statue, with speeches made before the marching bands and a school folklore group in full costume led all the participants up to the harbor square. There they watched the children's folklore dances before descending on the food and goods on sale at the fundraising tables run by enthusiastic volunteers.

Yerel seçimde gözlerin çevrildiği İstanbul, CHP’de kaldı. İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediye Başkanı Ekrem İmamoğlu resmi olmayan sonuçlara göre yüzde 50’yi aşkın oy oranıyla yeniden seçildi. YRP adayı Mehmet Altınöz yüzde 2.01, DEM Parti adayı Meral Danış Beştaş yüzde 1.92 oy aldı.

“Dünya iklim ve enerji konularına olan olağanüstü katkıları nedeniyle” Uluslararası Enerji Ajansı Başkanı Fatih Birol’a ‘Legion d’Honneur’ nişanı takdim eden Fransa Cumurbaşkanı Emmanuel Macron törende yaptığı konuşmada, “Fatih Birol, her türlü zorluğa meydan okumaya hazır, çok üst düzey bir hatip, siyasetçi ve takım kaptanı” dedi.
