İstanbul, Mar 16 (DHA) - TAV Airports won the tender for operation rights of Yanbu Prince Abdul Mohsin bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Saudi Arabia for a period of 30 years. TAV is going to construct the new terminal with 3 million passenger capacity.
TAV Airports, has signed an agreement with the Civil Aviation Authority of Saudi Arabia (GACA) regarding the expansion and operation of the airport in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, together with its partner Al Rajhi Group. Yanbu Airport will be the second airport in Saudi Arabia to be operated by TAV, following Madinah Airport.
TAV Airports President & CEO Sani Şener said, “TAV has its signature in the capital city airports of six countries in the Gulf Region. With Yanbu, total number of airports operated by TAV increased to 15. Yanbu is an important industrial hub hosting the oil refineries and the world's second busiest port located by the Red Sea.”
Expected to provide service to a total of 1.2 million passengers in 2017, Yanbu Airport will reach 3 million passengers per year at the first phase of the project after the construction of the new terminal with 3 million passenger capacity by TAV.
TAV has been operating Madinah Airport in Saudi Arabia since 2012. Furthermore, TAV has operations at Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam airports through its service companies.
