İstanbul, Mar 29 (DHA) – Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s plans for a second independence referendum triggered accusations from Uk ministers, claiming the demands are premature.
Sturgeon won the vote to formally request the UK Government to stage a new independence at the time Britain leaves the EU in 2019, by 10-vote majority after getting backed by Scottish Greens.
Sturgeon is due to write a to Theresa May for a the referendum after May invokes the article 50 on Wednesday.
“It is not my intention to do so confrontationally, instead I only seek sensible discussion,” Sturgeon told MSPs.
The vote, splitting the Scottish parliament between pro and anti independence parties, have deepened the issue of the timing and the need of the vote.
