ISTANBUL – The European Gendarmerie Force has accepted Turkey’s application to be an observer member during the May 13 meeting of the High Level Inter-ministry Committee in Paris.

Turkey applied for observatory membership in 2005. The EGF consists of French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Romanian and Dutch gendarmerie forces. Turkey’s observatory status adds to Turkey’s contribution to world security, the foreign ministry stated. �
