ISTANBUL - Reporters from the news channel CNN-Türk researched one of the alleged maps for the road connections for the third Bosphorus bridge and came up with striking results.
Binali Yıldırım, the minister of transportation, made a statement that there were some false maps of the route of the third Bosphorus bridge wandering around and that they are not to be trusted. However, there is road construction between İhsaniye and Tayakadın, a very thickly forested area of Istanbul, but the workers do not know what they are constructing. "It is said to be a highway, mentioned as a road to the third bridge," the workers said, opening a new chapter in the debate on the construction of another Bosphorus bridge.

When looked at from Google Earth, the aforementioned area is a forested one with many lakes. However, trees are now being cut as the machines are getting busy. It is a location far from inspecting eyes, hard to be found without a map. The route goes directly inside the forest. The construction has caused many trees to be cut down and nearby Lake Kazıklı has dried up.
The road construction leads to the main route for the third bridge, a linking road. The work machines belong to MAKYOL, the company that prepared the project.
The name of MAKYOL was also mentioned in the preliminary project prepared in 2006. Although the approval of the plans was not announced, half of the construction is already done. The third bridge for the Bosphorus is being strongly criticized by city planners and environmentalists who consider the project not only as a move in vain for solving Istanbul’s traffic problems but also a fatal blow to the forested areas surrounding the city.
