ISTANBUL - The seventh edition of the International Filmmor Women Film Festival will present the "Golden Okra" award for the first time to draw attention to sexism in Turkish cinema. The festival will be organized around the theme "Body" and held from March 9 to April 12 this year.

During the festival, 45 films from 15 countries will be screened at the Istanbul French Culture Center and Istanbul Modern between March 9 and 18, in the Aegean city of Manisa on March 20 and 21, in the southeastern city of Şanlıurfa on April 5 and 6, and in the Black Sea city of Trabzon on April 11 and 12.

In addition to film screenings, a panel discussion titled "Body and Sexism in Cinema" will be held in the four cities. There will also be film workshops and talks with directors as part of the festival.

Golden Okra Award

This year for the first time the Filmmor Festival will present "2008 Turkish Cinema Sexism Award/1st Golden Okra."

Nominees for the award have been determined by a preliminary jury among Turkish films that were released last year. Among these films are "Aşk Tutulması" (The Goal of My Life), "Osmanlı Cumhuriyeti" (Ottoman Republic) "Üç Maymun" (Three Monkeys), "Issız Adam" (The Desert Man) and "Recep İvedik."
