KONYA - Many companies operating in the white goods industry have launched several campaigns in February in hopes to overcome the economic stagnancy via increasing sales.

Campaigns launched by white goods firms exclude private consumption tax, or ÖTV, and value added tax, or VAT, from prices. "The VAT and ÖTV is from us" campaign has stirred up competition. As prices get lower, customers see attractive purchasing opportunities. Besides declining prices, customers are also provided with easier purchasing methods, including longer installment terms on credit cards.

Arçelik, Turkey's biggest maker of household appliances, is providing VAT and ÖTV discounts on its refrigerators and washing machines. As a result of these discounts, the price tag of a refrigerator varies between 668 Turkish Liras and 3,532 liras, while washing machines are sold between 652 liras and 1,652 liras. Arçelik is also enabling customers to pay for their purchases in four installments, with no interest. Beko, another Turkish white goods company, is providing an option to buy in three installments. The price tags of the company’s refrigerators vary between 488 liras and 3,172 liras. Washing machines are sold for 644 liras to 2,244 liras.

Bosch is also implementing VAT and ÖTV discounts. The company has a campaign for credit card purchases. The credit card campaign enables purchasing a product at its cash price in five installments. For credit card companies that have singed a deal with Bosch, the white goods firm enables customers the option of nine installments without interest.

Profilo is among the campaigners. Besides implementing VAT and ÖTV discounts, Profilo also enables customers to pay in 36 installments. It also provides an option to pay in 12 installments with no down payment.
