ISTANBUL - Turkey’s biggest wedding fair, "The World of Marriage," opens its doors to happy couples and people from the wedding industry inIstanbul. The fair exhibits everything from wedding dresses to honeymoons and will be open from Feb. 6-8 at the Istanbul Convention & Exhibition Center.

Both love and business are still blooming in the wedding industry after the opening of Istanbul’s 2009 World Marriage Fair received a full house of guests in its opening yesterday.

Love was definitely in the air as couples, their families and industry members fought for seats at the wedding gown fashion show that marked the opening of the fair. As the models parading down the catwalk in Turkish designer AKAY’s latest gowns, the audience was reminded by celebrity Çiğdem Tunç that one’s wedding day is one of the most special days in life and a celebration where every detail has the utmost significance. Tunç highlighted it was for that reason that such fairs were important. Wedding ideas, hopes and dreams can be brought to life by the experts.

AvÅŸar wedding designs also commented on the importance of weddings, and said: "Life is a story, one which is written only once and can not be changed or erased. A wedding gown is an important part of this story, one which can transform a bland story into a fairytale."Â

The 7th World of Marriage Fair, sponsored by Fashion TV and Digiturk, includes exhibits from wedding dress and tuxedo designers, wedding planners, decoration companies and venues, invitation and jewelry companies, and honeymoon hotels and agencies. With over 200 exhibitors, the fair provides hundreds of choices and expert advice for couples to create their ideal wedding. The fair exhibits a broad range of styles aimed at thousands of different tastes from lavish, expensive couture to low-key outdoor weddings. The wedding attire on display demonstrates an equally large variety of tastes and colors.

In addition to the exhibition stands, there will be catwalks, dance shows, hairdressing and make-up shows throughout the three-day fair.

The fair is not only aimed at engaged couples but also to members of the wedding industry. The fair hopes to act as a venue for companies to meet and discuss the current position of the sector while sharing and developing ideas for the future.

Aside from the Turks that took a day off of work to attend the fair yesterday, the hall was also filled with tourists interested in Turkish designs. Design student Amanda Holden from Canada, said although she did not come to Turkey especially for the fair she felt lucky she was able to attend, as she is a fan of Turkish wedding designers such as AKAY. The fair, which expects 25,000 guests, will continue over the weekend.

The 2009 World of Marriage fair is being held at the Istanbul Convention & Exhibition Centre from Feb. 6-8. Invitations to the fair are available on their Web site http://www.evlilikfuari.com/
