Andrew Vorkink, the Turkey Representative of the World Bank said that; 2/3 of mobile telephone bills goes to the national treasury of Turkey and it hinders improvement in the telecommunication sector.In his address at the inauguration of the 4th ‘Telecommunication Arena’ whose subject is ‘Telecommunication Sector in the way of EU’, said that; The telecommunication sector is very important for Turkey, in the process of integration with EU. Turkey advanced on setting free the markets of energy and telecommunication.Precautions on abuse of power and the reforms on public sector of the state, improved the administration of the government. The aim should be to lift the obstacles on the investments and to increase competition. These reforms are very important for the development of Turkey and to attain the social goals. Vorkink mentioned the steps of Turkey on telecommunication sector, saying that the Turkish government succeeded on issuing three GSM licenses and concluding tenders in the of the sector. Turkey is competing with the other countries in these sectors. The Telecommunication sector is very important for EU.He added that he hoped that the tariffs of mobile phones will decrease and form a more dynamic market. As a result, this sector will bring the new investments, and Turkey will have an advantage to compete with the other countries, he saidÂ
