GARMISH-PARTENKIRCHEN - American Lindsey Vonn won her second race in three days with victory in a World Cup super-G yesterday, according to provisional results.
The 24-year-old, who won a slalom in the German resort on Friday, clocked a time of one minute 22.16 seconds to win the last women's race before the world championships start on Tuesday in Val d'Isere, France.
In a race that was postponed from Saturday due to poor visibility, Anja Paerson took second place 0.39 seconds back and fellow Swede Jessica Lindell-Vikarby finished third 0.72 seconds behind the winner. Vonn, who strengthened her lead in the overall standings, will start as favorite for the first race of the Feb. 3-15 world championships, a super-G on Tuesday. Germany's Maria Riesch, Vonn's best friend on the circuit and her main rival for the overall World Cup title, finished fifth yesterday.
