US General Peter Pace: I looked them in the eyes and told the truth

US Chief of the Army General Staff, General Peter Pace, has spoken about his last week's visit to Ankara, noting "I looked them in the eyes and told them the truth." Comments by Pace in regards to his Turkey visit were published on the "Defenselink" internet site, a Pentagon related information portal.
An article accompanying Pace's comments noted that Pace had recommended high level talks between Turkey and the US in order to "reduce the possibility of misunderstanding between friends to a minimum."
Pace also reportedly told journalists that in Turkey "I tried to support our superb relationship."
