Two ships belonging to Turkish maritime companies have been under seizure by pirates in the Gulf of Aden for more than one month, officials said on Monday.

The cargo ship "Ya-Sa Neslihan" owned by YA-SA maritime company has been under control of pirates for 47 days, while the other ship, "Karagol" owned by YDC maritime company has been under seizure by pirates for 33 days.Â

 

Kubilay Marangoz, laywer for YDC company, told an A.A correspondent on Monday that they were negotiating with the pirates to secure the return of their ship.

 

The tanker "Karagol", which was carrying chemicals from Israel to India, was hijacked off Yemen on Nov. 12, along with its 14 crew members.

"Ya-Sa Neslihan" was hijacked on Oct. 29, along with its crew of 20 seamen. It was carrying 77,000 tons of iron from Canada to China.
