The suggestion that the National Education Council commission address the matter of different conditions for high school students applying to enter university across Turkey was accepted by Council members, and widely interpreted to mean that the Council would work during these meetings to open the way for everyone to enter university under equal conditions. TUSAID yesterday warned that the National Education Council, in addressing the controversial question of the status of the imam hatip religious high schools, was allowing it to be used as a political tool.
