ORLANDO - Orlando Magic’s Turkish forward Hidayet "Hedo" Türkoğlu, Jameer Nelson and Rashard Lewis each scored 22 points to spark the Orlando Magic past Toronto 103-90 Wednesday morning Turkish time, spoiling a 40-point effort by the Raptors' Chris Bosh.
All-Star center Dwight Howard added 18 points and nine rebounds as the Magic won their fourth game in a row and eighth in their past nine starts after opening the season 0-2.
Türkoğlu and Nelson set the pace down the stretch for Orlando. Türkoğlu scored seven Magic points in a row to open the fourth quarter and sank four 3-pointers in the final period.
Bosh, who also grabbed 18 rebounds, sparked the Raptors within six points in the fourth quarter before a Howard hook shot, a Türkoğlu 3-pointer and Nelson hoop pulled the hosts away to stay. Orlando guard Mickael Pietrusy, who is averaging 14.5 points but out with bruised ribs, was replaced by J.J. Redick in the lineup. Redick had 10 points in 34 minutes.
Meanwhile, LeBron James became the youngest player to score 11,000 career NBA points in Cleveland Cavaliers’ 106-82 win over the New Jersey Nets.
James scored 31 points to lead the visiting team and succeed Kobe Bryant as the youngest to reach the 11,000-point mark.
