Turkish speaker apologizes for official invitation to PKK member

"I apologize to the nation. This should not have happened. But my three-day visit to Jordan and lack of close attention from our friends led to this outcome," Turkish Parliament Spekaer Koksal Toptan told reporters.Â

 

Toptan had forwarded invitations to the husbands of two female MP’s, including Fatma Kurtulan’s husband, Salman Kurtulan, a wanted member of the PKK, to attend an official parliamentary function.

 

The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by Ankara and much of the international community, including the EU and the United States.
