Turkish film shares first prize in fest

ROTTERDAM - At the 38th Rotterdam Film Festival in the Netherlands, Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun’s film "Uzak İhtimal" (Wrong Rosary) shared first prize with two other films. The winning films of the festival were announced at a ceremony over the weekend.

The first prize "Tiger Award" went to Turkish film and Iranian director Ramtin Lavafipour’s "Be Calm and Count to Seven" and South Korean director ang Ik June’s "Breathless." Directors of the films were also awarded with 15,000 euros.

Among 14 films

For the first time in the festival, which started Jan. 21 and ended Sunday, a Turkish film was among 14 films chosen from more than 200 entries.

Also in the festival, in a special screening titled "Young Turkish Cinema" 15 selected films of Turkish cinema were on the screen. This year among the five jury members of the festival was award-winning Turkish director Yeşim Ustaoğlu.
