Turkish Cypriot Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer demanded prosecutors launch an investigation into ex-president Rauf Denktas and former prime minister and opposition leader Dervis Eroglu, whose names appear in the Ergenekon indictment as part of testimony or evidence in the case.Â

Denktas and Eroglu are suspected of having links with the former head of a Turkish labor union, Mustafa Ozbek, who is being held in Turkey accused of being member of the so-called Ergenekon organization, which is claimed to have been plotting to overthrow the Turkish government, TV channels reported.

"It is not logical that something like Ergenekon exists in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, or TRNC. The TRNC cannot have any relations with any plots to overthrow a government in Turkey," Denktas told broadcaster CNNTurk.   Â
