Turkish Airlines to purchase five new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft

The aircraft will be delivered one a month starting from October 2010 through to February 2011, the company said.

THY already has three Boeing 777-300ER planes in its fleet. The aircraft were leased from Indian Jet Airways last year for THY's long-haul flights.

Last month, a Turkish Airlines Boeing 737-800 plane crashed short of the runway at Amsterdams Schiphol Airport, killing nine passengers and crew. Dutch investigators say the plane crashed because a false reading from a faulty altimeter.
