A large delegation of economists, led by Turkish State Minister Mehmet Simsek, will leave for Washington D.C. on Oct. 8 to attend International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank Annual Meetings.

The delegation includes Treasury Undersecretary Ibrahim Canakci, Central Bank Governor Durmus Yilmaz and several other high ranking economy executives.

 

Simsek will meet executives of the IMF and World Bank and exchange views on Turkey's economy and developments in global economy.

 

He is also expected to explain his views on the global financial crisis during the high ranking meetings organized by the IMF, World Bank and International Finance Institute.

 

Simsek will give information about Turkey's experiences on banking and the finance sector and the sectors reform process.

IMF DELEGATION DUE IN TURKEY
An IMF delegation is expected to visit Turkey to review recent developments in the Turkish economy.

The IMF delegation, led by Turkey Desk chief Lorenzo Giorgianni, will proceed to Turkey after the IMF-World Bank annual meetings.

 

The direction of renewed relations between Turkey and the IMF are expected to be structured during the visit.

"Cautious Stand By" and "Post Program Monitoring" are the new alternatives on offer in the relations between Turkey and IMF.
