Turkey's finance minister, who underwent an angiogram and was hospitalized for 9 days in Turkey, has flown to the United States for further treatment. (UPDATED)
Unikatan was discharged from a teaching hospital in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Sunday, where he underwent a diagnostic angiogram on Feb. 1.
"I am going to the United States for treatment, and we will see whether they will insert a coronary stent or perform by-pass surgery," he said before departing to New York.
Unakitan said he would undergo surgery in Cleveland, but refrained from giving an exact date, when asked where the operation would take place.
The finance minister added that he was in good health.
Doctors in Turkey had said the results of Unikatan’s angiogram revealed three blocked arteries that required by-pass surgery.
