The Netherland-based Opet/Aygaz BV, a joint venture of Aygaz and Opet, two of the biggest energy companies of Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding, signed a contract on Thursday to sell its 100 percent shares in the Opet/Aygaz Bulgaria EAD, Aygaz said in a statement on Friday.

"Accordingly, the Opet/Aygaz BV has decided to halt its operations in Bulgaria," the statement added.

 

Opet/Aygaz Bulgaria EAD was established in July 2003 as a joint-venture of Opet and Aygaz, two of the biggest energy companies of Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding.

 

Aygaz is Turkey's largest LPG trading and distribution company and the fourth biggest in Europe. It is a leader in LPG imports on the Turkish market, commanding a market share of 30 percent. With its storage capacity of 150,000 m3, 12 depots, and 240 LPG tanker trucks, Aygaz is the undisputed leader in the sourcing, storage, filling, and distribution of LPG to residential, commercial and industrial markets in Turkey.

 

Opet is the fourth largest chain of petrol stations in Turkey. The company occupies a leading position in the distribution and fuel retail sales with its 1,256 retail stations and storage depots with a total capacity of 800,000 m3.
