The commission members are expected to question the Ergenekon suspects over claims of mistreatment at the prison.

The commission established a sub-committee to launch an investigation into the Silivri prison in the coming term, Zafer Uskul, the head of the commission said in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir, evaluating the results of monitoring activities conducted at two prisons in this city.

Uskal also criticized Turkey’s media over its coverage of the court proceedings in the Ergenekon trial.

"It is obvious that the media violates human rights by publishing and broadcasting stories about an ongoing investigation into an individual, in which they represent these people as if they are guilty," Uskul added.

The trial of suspects in the controversial case began in October in the Silivri prison courthouse.   Â
