PARIS - Turkey will join this year's Paris Cinema International Film Festival as the country of honor, local authorities told a press conference in Paris, the French capital. Paris will host the international festival for the seventh time this year from July 2-14.

Forty Turkish films will be screened in this year's festival, including films by Reha Erdem, Yeşim Ustaoğlu, Semih Kaplanoğlu and Pelin Esmer. There will be a special section for internationally acclaimed Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan in the festival. Ceylan received the best director award for his film "Üç Maymun" (Three Monkeys) in last year's Cannes Film Festival.

’Turkey Season’

The "Turkey Season" activities will begin in France at the beginning of July. Supported by the City of Paris and chaired by Charlotte Rampling, the seventh year of the Paris Cinema International Film Festival will feature events in 15 different venues throughout the capital (both in and out of movie theaters). The festival features an ambitious and eclectic line-up and is expected to draw numerous guests.

There will be an international selection; guests of honor; a country of honor; and special events, such as a screening under the stars, special nights, films accompanied by live music and programs for young audiences.
