ISTANBUL - Commenting on the ongoing customs dispute with Turkey, Yevgeny Primakov, the head of the Russian Chamber of Commerce, said it was the Turkish side that did not want to declare exported goods at customs.

"Both Russian and Turkish sides have complaints about customs. I understand the Turkish side, but I request for you to listen to the Russian side as well," the former prime minister said.

Replying to questions from journalists, Primakov said the global crisis has had a major affect on Russia, as Russia is firmly integrated with the global economy. The Russian economy is dependent on raw material exports and 40 percent of its domestic revenue comes from such exports, he explained, noting that the Russian economy would not be the same after the crisis. "Russia is turning into a more innovative economy," he said, adding that the country was also trying to develop its manufacturing.

For Primakov, Turkey is not among countries that are deeply affected by the crisis. "This shows that anti-crisis measures are correctly planned and implemented," he said. However, the global crisis is not coming to an end yet, he said.

Primakov also said he did not believe there was any conflict of interest between Russia and Turkey on natural gas and oil transportation. "The media is exaggerating the issue," he said. Turkey’s positive attitude on Nabucco and South Stream does not create "an allergy" in Russia, he said.
