Microsoft founder Bill Gates was again named the world's richest man in a year when even billionaires felt the heat of the global recession, the magazine also said.
Gates topped the list with a net worth of $40 billion, although he saw his bank balance lose $18 billion over the last 12 months.

Also recording a loss of $25 billion in 2008 was Mexican telecom's king Carlos Slim who still managed to come in third with $35 billion.
