Iran and Turkey have negotiated for the transfer of natural gas to Europe via Turkey and to supply Turkey with more gas during winter, Gholamhossein Nozari, the Iranian Petroleum Minister said on Sunday.
Turkey and Iran have launched a new round of negotiations on a project to build an additional pipeline to carry natural gas to Europe, Iran's state-run gas company announced, the Anatolian Agency reported on Monday.
The new pipeline would reach Iran's border province of Bazargan from the country's South Pars oil fields, the company said citing Nozari.
During the Jeddah OPEC summit, the two countries discussed terms for a joint venture to lay a natural gas pipeline extending from the South Pars oilfield to the Bazargan border.
“We have also spoken regarding the participation of Turkey in the development of phases 14 and 23 of the South Pars field,” the Tehran Times quoted the minister as saying.
