ANTALYA - Any yacht enthusiast who’s willing to pay a million dollars for a luxury yacht during these times of economic woe is also set to receive a free motorcycle.
And not just any motorcycle. A custom made Harley Davidson worth $120,000, according to the Herbert P. Baum, chairman of Sunrise Yachts, which was established in Antalya. Turkey has an important role in global-luxury-yacht production, he said. Despite the global crisis, Baum had invested in a shipbuilder’s yard in Turkey to produce luxury yachts and is satisfied with the decision he made over a year ago.
"Turkey currently ranks fifth in the world for yacht production. Once we start producing 45-55-meter long and 55-65-meter long boats, Turkey’s ranking will improve," said Özgür Çiğdem, shipyard manager. Turkey is expected to enter the global top three, she said.
