Turkey aims to complete GAP in 5 years

The Turkish government aims to complete teh Southeast Anatolia Project (GAP) within next five years, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday, Anatolian Agency reported. He added that $12.5 billion will be invested in the project.

Taking the floor in a meeting of the women's branch of his party ruling AKP in Ankara, Erdogan said the infrastructure works of GAP would be completed soon. "GAP will see investment worth $12.5 billion," he said.

Erdogan said Turkey's gross domestic product reached $659 billion in the last period.Â

The action plan that aims to bring special incentives and regulations to the GAP region, which economy experts have been working for seven months, was completed in March.
