TSK hands over command of ISAF to Italy

Turkish Gen. Ethem Erdagi, commander of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, handed over the command to Italian Gen. Mauro Del Vecchio on Thursday. Turkey had taken over the command of ISAF on February 13th from EUROCORPS.Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) had undertaken the responsibility of Kabul International Airport under command of Gen. Erdagi. 1600 of 8714 personnel from 36 countries who worked in Afghanistan within the scope of ISAF-VII were Turks344 of these Turks worked in ISAF-VII headquarters, 70 in Kabul Airport and 198 in other units.TSK personnel and unit will return to Turkey on Friday and they will be welcomed with a ceremony in Ankara. Chief of General Staff Chief Gen. Hilmi Ozkok, Land Forces Commander Gen. Yasar Buyukanit, Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ozden Ornek, Air Forces Commander Gen. Ibrahim Firtina and Gendarmery Forces Commander Gen. Fevzi Turkeri will attend the ceremony.Â
