İZMİR - Turkey’s biggest international tourism fair, Travel Turkey İzmir, is opening its gates to visitors today with the participation of 250 tourism company owners and operators from 18 countries, from France to Russia and Greece.
İzmir Fair, Culture and Art Activities A.Ş., or İZFAŞ, General Manager Doğan İşleyen said that Travel Turkey İzmir would be an unique opportunity to introduce Turkey’s tourism potential, with all of the country's beauty, to professionals coming from abroad.
International guests
İşleyen said, "Our guests will come from Bahrain, Belgium, Belarus, the United Arab Emirates, France, Great Britain, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kirghizstan, Kuwait, northern Cyprus, Latonia, Lebanon, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Russia, Yemen and Greece. We are just aiming to bring professionals together with their Turkish professionals. For that reason we are covering all the expenses of our foreign guests.
"We believe new tourism opportunities in Turkey will be introduced to international tourism traders at the fair. We hope the tourism industry will overcome the global crisis by looking to alternative countries that are taking part in the fair.
According to the World Tourism Organization, the tourism industry will shrink in the short term due to the global crisis. This is a significant threat to Turkish tourism, which receives tourists mainly from European countries. Travel Turkey will be a chance for traders to look at ways of overcoming the effects of the crisis," said İşleyen. The fair runs through until Nov. 30.
