Fundamentalist Islamic terror has this time hit Egypt, with the three highly strong explosives that went off in the seaside resort town Sharm el-Sheik, on the coast of the Red Sea. The blast has up to now claimed 88 lives, nine of which are non-Egyptians. More than 200 people were also injured and 20 of the injured are believed to be foreigners. The attack was owned up by the Abdullah Azzam brigades of Al-Qaida, who operate like the Egyptian and Syrian branches of the terrorist group.Another group – Moucahid-i Masr (Egyptian Warriors) – also claimed responsibility for the blast, saying that it was carried out through five suicide bombers.  The police have announced that there are British, Dutch, Russian, Saudi Arabian, German and Italian citizens amongst those killed in the blast.  The first bomb targeting Sharm el-Sheik went off in an old bazaar, crowded by touristy souvenir shops. A mini-van exploded near a coffee house and left Egyptians dead while they were enjoying their hooker-pipes. The bomb killed 19 on the spot, causing great panic.  The second bomb was positioned in the Nema Bay, home to tens of popular hotels visited by European tourists. The explosives are believed to have been placed in a jug bag on the beach. The explosion killed 5, while causing great damage in the nearby cars and buildings. The bloodiest of the explosions came with the third bomb, placed in the Ghazaka Gardens Hotel in Nema Bay. The suicide bomber, driving an explosive-loaded car, drove his way into the lobby before pulling the detonator. The result was horrifying – the blast claimed 64 lives. Hospitals in Sharm el-Sheik, famous for its breathtakingly beautiful underwater, were over flooded by patients, some of which were sent to Cairo.  The city has since been vacated by tourists, who rushed their way back to their countries fearing another attack.  Turkish tour agencies have cancelled two flights following the blasts.Â
