BODRUM - Fishermen in Bodrum are anxious about the poisonous "Lagocephalus Sceleratus," or pupperfish, which have been seen for a second time this year in nearby waters.
Pupperfish, originally from the Indian Ocean, have swum through the Suez Canal into the Mediterranean to be caught by fishermen at Tilkicik, offshore from Bodrum.
Fisherman Osman Gökmen said this second sighting of pupperfish indicates they have begun breeding in nearby waters.
The pupperfish contain a substance that could be lethal if consumed, Gökmen said.
"We have learned that only certified chefs are allowed to cook pupperfish in Japan," he said.
