Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi arrived yesterday afternoon on a private plane in Istanbul with his youngest son Luigi to watch the final match of the European Championship League. His other son, Pier Berlusconi, arrived yesterday evening, also on a private plane, to watch the match in Istanbul. Berlusconi arrived bearing gifts for Prime Minister Erdogan. Greeting the Italian Prime Minister at Ataturk Airport was Istanbul Governor, Muammer Guler. Berlusconi arrived at the Dolmabahce Palace, where Erdogan was waiting for him, about an hour after his arrival. The Italian Prime Minister was seen waving to reporters and curious citizens gathered near his official car.  No luck though for Milan Berlusconi made a show before the match of entwining his middle and index fingers, a gesture which he claimed would bring good luck to the Milan team. Said Berlusconi "Hundreds of millions will watch this match. I hope it is good football. I had made this plan to meet PM Erdogan a long time ago. I ordered the Milanese players to reach the finals. That way, I could get two things done at once." The Milan team's failure to win the match meant that the evening ended in sorrow for the Italian Prime Minister and the Milan players though. Â
