ISTANBUL - Members of Turkey’s largest dance troupe, the Fire of Anatolia, will embark on a tour of Western and Central Europe while the main group promotes Turkey by performing "Troy" in African countries.

According to a written statement from the 150-member group, the Fire of Anatolia will take the stage in London for the first time this year. Tickets for the performance at the Hackney Empire were reportedly sold out weeks ago. As part of its world tour, the group will stage 40 performances in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Romania, Syria, Egypt and England.

The shows will be performed by two separate casts, which will sometimes take the stage at the same time in different locations. While the main group performs "Troy" at the Egyptian pyramids, for example, the second group will stage its new "Fire of Anatolia Ğ Evolution" in London.

General director and choreographer Mustafa Erdoğan said this would be the first time in Turkish history that an art group had put on such a large event. "The wind of the Fire of Anatolia blows in Europe while another part of the group brings the legend of Troy to the Egyptian pyramids," Erdoğan said. "This is a historic success. Our group has proved many times that it is one of the best in the world. This tour will prove once again that it has the richest repertoire."

According to Erdoğan, no other group in the world is performing simultaneously with two different casts. "The new version of the performance is richer, with new whirling dances, Caucasus dances, religious ceremonies and Roman dances," he said, speaking of the "Fire of Anatolia Ğ Evolution" program that European audiences would be seeing for the first time. "Also, ’Troy’ in front of the Egyptian pyramids will be a mystical festivity. Huge Troy photos will be reflected on the pyramids."
