ANKARA - One of the cars that have been produced for the film "Devrim Arabaları," (The Revolution Cars) by Turkish director Tolga Örnek was donated to the Middle East Technical University, or METU, Science and Technology Museum Classical Car Collection by Örnek.

At a ceremony held for the donation, Örnek said METU former Rector Professor Ural Akbulut made him visit the museum the previous week when he came to the university for his film's screening, and he was very affected by the museum and proud of it.

Örnek said the idea to donate one of the cars produced for the film to the museum was very exciting for him because of the fact that they were kept in a garage in Istanbul and could not be seen by everyone. He said nine days after the visit the car took its place in the museum of the university in Ankara.

Mentioning that the car in the museum was a copy of the original one and did not have too much value, Örnek said, "For me, this car is the symbol of our labor, our time, difficulties we experienced and our friendship. It is the exact copy of the revolution car. It carries a team soul. It has a high spiritual value for me. I think I could not have donated it to a better place. I hope many people will see it and think about its story. In this way they will be able to meet the heroes 47 years later."

After the speech, Örnek was presented a plague of appreciation.

"The Revolution Cars" depicts the sad story of the first attempt to manufacture the first Turkish automobile. These were passenger cars that were manufactured by 23 Turkish engineers in just 130 days in 1961.
