Celebrations following the Fenerbahce championship on Sunday night led to the injury of people all over Istanbul by bullets raining down from guns shot into the air following the match. An incredible 8 people in total are fighting for their lives due to stray bullets shot by match celebrators. One of these is 11 year old Ismail Yilmaz, from the Umraniye section of Istanbul, who went out onto the balcony of his family's apartment at the sound of the final whistle of the match. He was hit by a bullet which has been proven to have come from the gun of his family's neighbor, 72 year old Ismail Guler. The fifth grader Yilmaz is now in an intensive care unit following a 7 hour operation, and doctors say the bullet, which entered his body a few centimeters from his heart and exited from his back, damaging his lungs and liver, has put his life at risk. Â Ismail Guler was taken under police arrest for firing the gun in celebration. Inspection of his home revealed 5 empty shells and a licensed handgun. In a statement to the police in which he apologized and said he was regretful, Guler said "I am a Fenerbahce supporter. I was so happy at the end of the match. I heard gun noises all around. I took my gun, which I just bought, and went out onto the balcony. I fired 6 or 6 times into the dark. I didn't want to hurt anyone." Â
