ANTALYA-A tennis instructor in the Mediterranean province of Antalya is readying for an attempt to enter the record books by stopping and balancing a tennis ball thrown from behind a 120-meter-high hill without letting it bounce.

Soysal will make the attempt on Monday at the Robinson Club in Çamyuva. He will stand on the beach while a tennis ball is thrown at him from behind the hill.

Erkan Soysal is already in the Guinness Book of Records for returning a serve five times as he and his brother were paragliding in Ölüdeniz in the neighboring province of Muğla. He has also made television appearances in China, Spain, Italy and Germany.

Soysal’s specialty is stopping speeding tennis balls with his racket without making them bounce. He says he can stop a ball that is coming at him at 120 kilometers per hour.

Explaining his motivation behind the latest attempt and more importantly, who would care, Soysal said he was promoting Turkey by carrying the flag all over the world.

"When I appeared on a television show in China that had 45 million viewers, the reaction was amazing," he said.
