MANİSA - Two British artists' paths are to cross in southern Turkey. In search of a scenario for the film he plans to shoot, famous singer Sting, lead vocalist and bass player of 1980’s band The Police, is interested in the book by Peter Murphy called "Lazarus's Unknown Story."
Sting plans to shoot the
film about Murphy’s book, which is an adaptation of the story in the Bible and takes place in Ephesus, Millet, Didim and Priene.
Interesting story
The story of Peter Murphy, 53, who was a shop manager in England for a long time, is also quite interesting. Buying a house in Didim in 2003, Murphy decided to live in Didim for the duration of 12 months to get to know the local people, culture and life.
Following his visit to Ephesus, Murphy decided to write a book making the most of his personal experiences and passion for history.
Adapting the Bible story of Jesus Christ bringing Lazarus back to life, and referring to some historical events, Murphy also mentioned local residents he met in Didim, the "Blue Restoran" in Altınkum and his frequent visits to Yeşilkent.
"After visiting Ephesus, I began to think how one living at those times would perceive our age. The story of Lazarus in the Bible gave me inspiration to write a book. I wrote it in my house in Altınkum. It is a great. While one is writing a book, he needs a beginning, an end and surplus of serenity and loneliness. Altınkum is a great place for all these," said Murphy, adding that he began to work for his horror novel called "Yeniden Doğmak" that tells the penalties of afterlife.
Published by the Grosvenor Publishing, and available on the Amazon Web site, Murphy’s book has achieved great success so far. The BBC Manchester Radio interviewed Murphy about shooting a film based on his book. Murphy also got in touch with musician Shaun Lomax to compose the songs for the film together.
Upon learning that the singer Sting was interested in their film project, Lomax talked to him.
"It is too early now, but we are hopeful that our negotiations will reach a successful conclusion," said Lomax.
