Sixteen PKK terrorists neutralized since June- Turkish army

Three PKK terrorists were killed in clashes with Turkish security forces, military spokesman Brig. Gen. Metin Gurak told reporters in a weekly briefing.

 

He said seven PKK terrorists surrendered to Turkish security forces in the same period, adding the military captured six others.

 

He also said a significant amount of weaponry, bombs, and explosive materials were also seized in the operations waged against the terrorist organization.

 

Turkey has long been struggling with the terror organization PKK, which launches cross-border attacks on Turkey from bases in northern Iraq.

 

The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by Turkey and much of the international community, including the EU and the United States.

 

Gurak also said the General Staff's weekly press briefings would be recessed until August.
