The 45-year-old man killed three people in their homes in a suburb of the northeastern town of Tuzla before moving on to a bus station where he killed three passengers and wounded a bus driver, police spokesman Izudin Saric told AFP.

The gunman, who was not named, has been taken into police custody, Saric said. "At the moment we have no evidence that the victims were in any way related to him," Saric said.

Local news agencies named the man as Tomislav Petrovic and said he had killed three immediate neighbors, a married couple and a man, in their homes, and then continued his shooting spree at the bus station.

The 41-year-old bus driver was taken to Tuzla hospital with severe injuries.

"He suffered severe gun wounds and is currently undergoing surgery but his life is not in danger," Amra Odobasic, the hospital spokeswoman told AFP.

Petrovic’s neighbors said he had behaved strangely and suffered from depression.
