Sibel Tüzün chosen to sing for Eurovision

The song that will be sung by Sibel Tüzün, who has been chosen to perform Turkey's entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, has been finalised. The song, ‘Superstar’, written and composed by Tüzün herself and arranged by Taşkın Sabah, was presented to the general public in a press conference organised by the Turkish National Television Channel, TRT at the Ceylan Intercontinental Hotel. The music video was also shown at the conference, where Ali Güney, TRT General Directorate official, was also present.
Sibel Tüzün said that she was very excited about joining the Contest, and claimed she would give a promising performance for the competition. Tüzün draws one’s attention with the Turkish flag-embroidered red bowler hat she wears in the music video, and explained, “We set off from the idea of an extravagant stage outfit, a typical image of the ‘superstar’, and of course added the Star and Cresent of the Turkish flag, to add a Turkish twist to it.”

When asked why the song lyrics were not in English, Ali Güney, representative of TRT General Directorate, expressed, “Yes, it is true that Sertab Erener came first place with her song in English [Every Way That I Can], but there is a point which should not be missed: we joined the 1997 Contest with a song with Turkish lyrics and did incredibly well, achieving third place. At the end of the day, this is a song contest, and we are happy with our decision.”
