WASHINGTON - Here are some of the deadliest shooting sprees to have taken place in the United States in the past five years:
w Dec. 5, 2007: A 19-year-old man armed with an AK-47 assault rifle opens fire in a shopping mall at Omaha in Nebraska in the United States, killing eight, before killing himself.
w Oct. 7, 2007: A young sheriff's deputy at Crandon, a town in the northern state of Wisconsin, kills six people, including his ex-girlfriend, at a party, before being shot by the police.
w March 21, 2005: At Red Lake in Minnesota, a 16-year-old adolescent kills nine people before killing himself.
w March 12, 2005: Seven people taking part in a religious service in a hotel at Brookfield in the northern state of Wisconsin are killed and four others injured by an armed man who then turns his gun on himself.
